Economic efficiency potentials

Economic energy efficiency potentials serve as a base for the calculation of different energy scenarios, but the goal behind these calculations is not necessarily to exploit those potentials. The impact of the planned and existing policies is not compared to economic energy efficiency potentials.

Prevention of distorted markets

There is no systematic approach to check for possible market imbalances and revise policies.

Access to information

Information campaigns are designed in a general manner and intend to increase the awareness for both supply- and demand-side options.

Access to capital

There are financial programs and funds in place, which are targeted at the green energy transition in general. This means that these instruments not solely target at energy efficiency investments but cover both supply- and demand-side investments.

Risk and certainty

Besides financials support, there are not specific measures in place to reduce the risk surrounding investments in energy efficiency.

Energy poverty

Both the federal Government and provinces use social policies, alongside targeted and non-targeted measures for energy efficiency in housing. Information and awareness are perceived as key enablers of renovation policies.

Sufficiency

No concrecte measures are implemented.

Region and local level

The EE1 principle has not been specificially implemented on the regional and local level.

Monitoring

The monitoring occurs in a different manner depending on the sector, program, and measures. However, in general individual measures are monitored, while no general development or trends of energy efficiency are assessed.
